Argentina is the second largest South American state where Aconcagua, the highest mountain of America (6.962m), is situated. The country offers an astonishing diversity of landscapes and vegetation zones due to its great extension from north to south.

The subtropical north along the Andes, vineyards in the west and fantastic beaches in the east as well as the Subantarctic in the south will form an unforgettable adventure. Even today the agricultural country is characterized by its huge herds of cattle.

Indian influences and traditions of the European immigrants shape the fascinating culture which is expressed through “Tango argentine”.

Buenos Aires, the pulsating capital, is already waiting for you with its numerous artists’ quarters, shopping street and theaters.

We would like to introduce you to some of Argentina’s most important and beautiful attractions:

1. Iguazú Falls (Cataratas del Iguazú)

You will experience an impressive natural spectacle in the Iguazú National Park (Parque Nacional de Iguazú). The Iguazu River thunders down from a height of 82m over several waterfalls that interrupt its course. It is about 2.700m wide and has a shape of a horseshoe – a stunning and unique sight that will stay forever in your memory.

Even from a distance, powerful roaring noises of the falls can be perceived that tumble down into a triangle-shaped water area with lots of “islands”.

When the sunrays hit the spray colorful rainbows appear everywhere. You will get the best view of the falls on the Brazilian side.

However, you should not miss out on other attractions of the Iguazú National Park – it is not without reason that it has been declared as a World Cultural Heritage site.

2. Perito Moreno Glacier and Fiz Roy

The ice field with 35km length, 6km width and 80m height has been awarded World Cultural Heritage status by UNESCO and is among the most spectacular natural wonders in the world.

The Perito Moreno is located in the National Park Los Glaciares and is one of the few glaciers that grow continuously, moving 1m forward each day. If you go to the viewing terraces you can observe enormous ice blocks breaking off into the Lago Argentino.

The steep granite peaks of Cerro Fitzroy or Cerro Chaltén with heights of 3.406m are also situated in the National Park Los Glaciares and definitely worth seeing.

3. Buenos Aires

The capital of Argentina located at the La Plata River is also called “Paris of South America”. Buenos Aires, characterized by magnificent buildings in colonial style that give the city a European flair, is the cultural center of the country with its world-famous opera house Teatro Colón and numerous theaters. The “portenos”, as the people there are called like to gather in innumerable small cafes. The district of La Boca, where tango was born, is the highlight of South America. You will find endless things to discover in this vibrant city: from the world famous nightlife, to excellent restaurants to beautiful buildings and churches.

Enjoy a play in one of the nearly 190 theaters of Buenos Aires, like Teatro Colón which is among the most famous opera houses in the world. Experience tango in the middle of the street and visit some of the fascinating museums.

Plaza de Mayo, the Metropolitana Cathedral, the national congress and Puerto Madero are some of the many splendid buildings you can explore in the capital city.

We also strongly recommend that you visit the La Recoleta Cemetery. At this place, you will find Eva Peron’s grave whose life is recounted in the world famous movie “Evita”, starring Madonna.

4. Ushuaia and National Park Tierra del Fuego

Ushuaia is Argentina’s southernmost city and marks the end of the famous Panamericana which starts in Alaska and extends to the southern tip of the South American continent. It is the only city in Argentina that is located at the Pacific Ocean which is also a famous port for cruise ships where the Antarctic trips start.

Ushuaia, which has a Norwegian flair, attracts a great deal of tourists for the National Park Tierra del Fuego located nearby. Hikers and nature lovers consider this 63.000ha national park a paradise where condors and albatrosses can be observed over rainforests, mire landscapes and steep cliffs. Not to forget the glaciers forming the landscape along with lakes and rivers.

5. Pampas

The pampas are a must for anyone who wants to experience the real Argentine feeling: infinite vastness, home of the gauchos who are known for their unlimited freedom and their huge herds of cattle. Up until today lots of South American gauchos work day-in, day-out in the vast regions, taking their cattle to fertile fields.

You should not miss the opportunity to try some of the famous, distinctive Argentine rump steaks and just enjoy the countryside, culture and people, while getting away from the stress of the big city life.

6. Ibera marsh

The Esteros del Iberá are a huge mash in the province of Corrientes. The very diverse flora and fauna is being protected by a nurture reserve. Many call it for that reason the last paradise on earth. On an area of 13.000 km² you find an ecosystem which is being home to capybaras, deer, caimans, anacondas, otters, ostrich, howler monkeys and 350 different types of birds. So this area should be on every travel itinerary of any ornithologist and nature lover. Also the first gauchos came from this area and here the gauchos still work in their traditional way, riding on their horse. You should share this experience.

Due to its close distance to Gauzy (500 km being close ins Argentina) it became a more and more popular tourist destination in the last years but still is being considers as an insider tip.
